A partnership between Festival Escrita na Paisagem, Pé de Xumbo, a Bruxa Teatro and Pachamama
Espaço Celeiros, Évora
July 10th, starting at 5PM
The music project
Abaixonado (Underlove) centers on the fragilities of speech, in particular the incapability of singing, which is
re:converted (
re:invented) into a generative and productive act, materialized act of multiple rhythms and melodies.
The
re:convention-re:creation is just one of the aspects through which
Abaixonado materializes the concept of
re:play, in which we focus this year at the Festival.
Abaixonado is, in itself, a
re:invention, since it has been
re:constructed again and again into various formats and adapting to different contexts: founded in Guimarães, the project was presented at the Festival Praga (Guimarães), (Guimarães), at the Autosecla (Caldas da Rainha) – ocasion in which the ensemble changed, being drums replaced by a classic guitar –, among others. The project also took the format of a duo, with Ana Jorge in vocals and guitar – a “reemergence of protofolk-whining”, according to
sal.
At the
Festival Escrita na Paisagem,
Abaixonado re:invents itself once more, presenting a new duo ensemble, with
Morgane Masterman as guest musician; she joins
Carlos Martins (guitara and back vocals) and
sal. The last brings another dimension of re:play into the show, embodying the
persona DJ Start 2 Finnish, and saluting the audience with a very peculiar
re:mix, which brings together Portuguese popular music, with speeches by Portuguese public figures – or, as sal. puts it: “danceable pearls of national schizophrenism”.
A project that promises a lot of fun in a party that joins the artistic agents based at Antigos Celeiros da EPAC, and closes the first week of
Movimento Arriscado.
