With Vera Mantero the Festival Escrita na Paisagem opens a new format in the 3rd edition of its the Summer School: the guest artist. This is a extremely significant contribute to the theme this Festival’s edition, as it adds to training programs an exemplary career, re:visited by means of a strongly documental initiative. 

 

In fact, as guest artist, Vera Mantero presents in Évora A dança do existir (The Dance of Existence), a retrospective exhibition on her choreographic work. There are 29 photographs documenting her career as choreographer, from her first creations to the most recent ones, as well as a Temporary Documentation Center, which allows visitants and spectators to become more familiar with the various aspects of Mantero’s work.

 

In addition to the exhibition there will be an encounter to debate the role of documenting practices in performance art creations, guided tours and also encounters-talks between the choreographer and academics that have been elaborating on her work.
