With Vera Mantero, the Festival Escrita na Paisagem opens a new format for the Summer School, introducing the figure of the “guest artist”. This is a central contribution to the main theme the Festival approaches this year – Re:play (re:petition, re:creation) –, adding to the pedagogic project the exemplarity of a career revisited by means of a strongly documental activity.

In A Dança do Existir the visitor has the privileged opportunity to have a close contact with the work of the choreographer Vera Mantero, from her first creations to the most recent, by means of the 29 photographs and the videos exhibited.

At the Temporary Documentation Center, each visitor will have the opportunity to create his/her own journey, his/her own re:visitation, of Vera Mantero’s career. Here, the visitor will have available to consult a wide range of materials, which offer a wide approach of the various aspects of Vera Mantero’s work: publications and clippings on Mantero’s works; videos of shows, documentary films, films, etc.; soundtracks and musical proposal; videos and proposed books, by authors with which Vera Mantero shares interests; and her working notes. Added to all these a Guest Book will be available; in this, the visitors can leave their comments, messages and responses.

In addition to the exhibition there will be an encounter to debate the role of documenting practices in performance art creations, guided tours and encounters-talks between the choreographer and academics that have been elaborating on her work, as well as the presentation by Vera Mantero of two of her solos (see here).
